El castell d'aquest nom, erigit entorn el 993 fou cedit al bisbe de Vic i es va construir l'església dedicada a sant Salvador. No queda res de la primitiva església ja que fou destruida el 1711 i es va construir el temple actual, beneït el 1767. La parròquia va tenir com a sufragània l'església de Sant Cristòfol de Caballera y la de Sant Puvim o Sant Pere del Vim, més tard sufragània de Prats de Rei
